Josh Hancock media coverage

They are beating this story to death.
If you didn't know, our pitcher for the St Louis Cardinals was killed last weekend in a car crash.

Timeline of recent..events:
During Spring Training in Florida our coach feel asleep at a light and was given a DUI

Last week our pitcher, Hancock was on the "eastside"...aka, East St. Louis, IL..Sauget, IL..strip clubs and all hours clubs. Near 5am he gets in a car accident, his car goes to the shop, he gets a rental, he oversleeps and says he forgot that he had a day game that day. Although the police that showed up at the scene say that he was talking about the upcoming game.

He gets fined by the orgainization. Last time they had to call someone 20 times for a game was in Chicago a few years back..Kile didn't answer the phone and he was dead in his room..heart problems. They were freaked out, they fined him, GOOD!

2 days later there is a day game (this is last Saturday)..after the game he does something til around 8pm then he goes to Mike Shannon's for dinner/drinks/socialize etc. He stays til midnight. They offer him a cab, he declines says he is going to walk to the Westin to meet some folks. He doesn't do that, he actually gets in his rental vehicle to go to Clayton, MO (maybe 9 miles away) to meet up w/ gold glove winner; Jim Edmonds and Adam Kennedy at Cafe Napoli. He is on the HWY and on his phone talking to a friend that is a girl..next thing you know. Crash. He dies instantly as he plows in the back of a tow truck aiding a stalled vehicle. This all happened in the "fast lane". The tow truck had the flashing lights on but said Josh never slowed down but did try to swerve, just too late. The doctors say that the head injuries killed him instantly, he more than likely didn't feel any pain.
Details have come out:
He was legally drunk.
He had enough pot in the car for a felony charge.
He had a pipe, to smoke the pot.
He was not wearing his seatbelt. (they did say this may not have made a difference due to the way the crash happened).

So it makes you mad. He should have known better, he was almost 30 years old.
Why is getting a driver or limo not an option??
If he was having a problem w/ drugs or alchohol did his team mates or coaches not see this?
Why don't they do drug testing in baseball?

Well it's a shame, hopefully all of the publicity will save a life, I doubt it though.
I would have rather had the coverage on the tragic death of DeSmet HS Lacrosse coach's death.
He was a father of teenagers, recently engaged to be married. He was on a trip with the team to South Bend IN for a game. He had a heart attack and died, he was 38 years old.
