BB's New Toy

Yes, I know I'm 40 years old. I don't care. I love Pokemon. In the past you may recall me being sad when Drew fell out of love w/ Pokemon and instead turned to Bionacle, Transformers, etc. Well it doesn't matter anymore, I can play by myself. For an entire week I haven't read any book. I'm playing Pokemon. I don't quite know what level I'm on. Drew thinks I'm playing too slow. Unlink him I go to EVERY house and talk to all the people and collect as many tips as I can. My Pokemon are are getting big :-) Some of them have evolved and are over level 20! Last night I sat by citronella candle in the yard and played for an hour and a half. (I should have been doing laundry).
I know understand when Drew says "Just give me a couple more minutes". When you are playing you can't just stop. You have to finish the battle you are in, if you aren't battling then you need to save the game before you turn it off, otherwise you are screwed.
I also have an Uno game. I'm just not interested yet since I'm loving Pokemon. This will be really fun toy to bring to Aruba next time. It's lighter than 5 books.

I'm picking Drew up from camp tonight and then we're all going to Aunt Fran's for dinner. I'll have to bring my game so he can check up on my progress. He think's it's very cool that BB wanted a DS. The young girl w/ her mom at my WW meeting Monday whispered to her mom, "why can't you be cool like that lady and get a DS?"..her mother shushed her.. I smiled.

Sidenote: Mom calls me at least 5 times a day. Not today of course.
My mother and father are getting their door bell fixed today. Luckily they have all the warrenty information. I just called to see how it went..no answer. Where the hell are they? I have a horrible vision of the High Ridge Nutone repair man holding them hostage.
**They were not held hostage. Mom was on the phone and didn't answer.

News that interests me today.

Reading the news today..and I use the term news loosly. There were a few things that peaked my interest. I thought I would share.

First off, click cousin Deb's link on the right and read a beautiful post about her great-niece who is a cancer survivor. Did I mention she's in grade school? Great post about a very brave girl.

Mark Cuban wants to buy the Cubs.
I say: Why not? Can't hurt. Poor Cubbie's.

Mom and Toddler kicked off plane.
This one I would like to read both sides to the story. Now it sounds ridiculous. Mom and Kid (2 years old) get on a domestic flight. The plane takes off. The child says "bye bye plane". The child said this over and over and over. I'm sure it got annoying. The child is 2. They say the next thing the stewardess comes over and says something to the effect of, "at first it was cute, not anymore..why don't you medicate your kid"..mom says, "what?"..stewardess says, "baby benadryl".. Can you believe that?

Today is Friday the 13th. Last Saturday was 7/7/07.
Who cares?

Did Jim Morrison die in his tub of heart faliur or in the john at a club of a herion overdose.
Personally I think it was a mixture of the two. The guy was a total addict who was so far gone he couldn't even perform anymore. It's a shame he didn't help himself when friends tried to help. He had some awesome music.

Dale JR is not going to drive the Budweiser Car anymore.
I don't really watch much of NASCAR..well really not any. But I know that he has ALWAYS driven the Budweiser car. That is just a huge change in sponsorship...for non fans to recognize. Dale Jr and Sprint just don't really seem to go together.

Last but not least, the cutest thing next to David Beckham on the internet today:

Direct from Yahoo: A male long-coated chihuahua named "Heart-kun" with a heart-shaped pattern on his coat sits at Pucchin Dog's shop in Odate, northern Japan July 10, 2007. The one-and-a-half-month-old chihuahua was born on May 18, 2007 as one of a litter. The shop owner Emiko Sakurada said that this is the first time a puppy with these marks has been born out of a 1,000 that she has bred. She also said that she has no plans to sell the puppy

Order of the Phoenix Review - SPOILERS*edit

This is my review on the movie: Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix.
Some of this may not make sense cause it's what I posted in response to other posts at a different site.

J sait it was one of his favorite movies. He had NOT read the book. He also took the opportunity to get a little shut eye..but he DID like it.

It is NOT for children really. I think they would be bored, scared, and sad.

SPOILER ALERT: Don't read this if you are still reading the book or haven't seen the movie yet (and you believe that you are)

Saw the movie last night!
First off I want to say that I think this is the first time I've gone to a movie on opening night since..Superman or Star Wars when I was a kid. The energy was awesome and the theater was packed. The crowd actually cheered and laughed during the previews. There was a sneak peak to Maxwell Smart which looks great!

Pixie I agree with you. This was the first time I had read the book before I saw the movie, and I must say I would rather see the movie THEN read the book since the read will fill in the blanks instead of leave you groaning for what you know you are missing.

Now I am thinking that I may be mixing two of the books but one of the things I was thinking about was Fred and George receiving the money from Harry to open their store. Wasn't that done in Order of the Phoenix?

Other things I missed:
The Giants. I missed Hargrid finding his brother and talking to the Giants.

The Centaurs. They were there in the movie but it was SO dark you couldn't really see them. They were so much more a central character I missed Fiero (?) coming in and teaching.

Quiddich! Weasley is our King was great.

In a whole I think the movie though tried to do too much and wasn't great at any one particular thing. The relationship between the students was OK. I agree the after-kiss conversation w/ Herminoe and Ron was priceless..but other than that you didn't "feel the love".
The book touches on the Order of the Phoenix. Sirius explaines briefly..IMO too briefly..who, what where and when the Order of Phoenix started and what they did. The time that the Order met was so limited.

The Weasly's were SUCH a large part of the book. I missed seeing Mrs Weasly's sorrow over Percy becoming such a ministry git and Mr Weasly recovering in the hospital.

The Hospital: We would have seen the Longbottom's..wow that was awesome in the book.

I seem like I'm uber negative, so lets move along:
What I loved.
Luna. From the upside down magazine to her care and concern for Harry. She was great!. She really looked a bit like I imagined.
Ginny.
Without going into as much detail as the book you can tell that she is going to be a great witch, better than her brothers. She has confidence. You can tell she still cares for Harry but she isn't as shy anymore.

Special Effects and Sets
WOW. The duel's were awesome, seeing Sirius come into the fire was great too. Traveling by flue was great.
The sets in general were awesome, they really look like what I see in my head and I like that alot! The ministry actually helped clear things up a bit in my head, I had it pretty much pictured that way but not totally.

All in all: I am SO glad I saw the movie. I would like to know what someone thinks of it that has NOT read the book.

Now the countdown is on for the final book!!!

NO..no vomiting in the movie. They really didn't show many of the twins great inventions...just showed the boil ones..can't recall the name.

Damn Liberal Media Stikes Again

We were warned about the Latin Mass thing..but now about that Pope story today. I got ahold of what the Pope really sent out (courtisy of my SIL Wendy the Catholic Radio Gal). What it basically boils down to is confirming that the Catholic Church is the Apostolic Church. Many moons ago the Apostles founded the Catholic Faith, headed by the Pope..Peter. DUH..that is first grade stuff.
Out of context though we sound as bad as radical Muslims or Polygmst Mormans.

Whew..I thought I was going to have to start my own commune there for a minute!

Tonight's the Night

No, it's not a Rod Stewart concert; it's the Harry Potter movie. We plan on going tonight, I hope it's not sold out. I'd like to see it before we take Drew, I think this one may be a bit scary for him.

This afternoon I'm going for an interview for Drew's new school. It's 2nd grade, not excuse me, 2nd Class. He will be tested. In 3th Class he will take 2 languages. 4th Class will begin band and theater. Unlike what the Pope came out with today he will be taught to respect all other religions. The hole Pope thing today is just really irking me, it's like he's going backward in time. I don't like this one bit. As one of the little guys man confidant when talking about God I just do NOT feel right telling him that "we believe" (Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Suzie ETC) ....other Christian communities are either defective or not true churches and Catholicism provides the only true path to salvation

Oh well, stepping off my soap box. I think I'm going to ask my SIL that speaks on a catholic radio station what she thinks!

Sunday Pool Party

Sunday was an awesome day for a pool party. It was in the mid 90's about 60% humidity and the water was perfect. My friend was able to use her parents pool to have over some college friends. Of course for a while this was an annual party and it started out as a drunkfest...people pushing people in the pool..water volleyball games etc. Now it's a family party where it seems like the children outnumber the adults. It was a great time. Drew man was having fun on his own, he doesn't need us anymore. He played in the outdoor pool, the indoor pool then played the Wii w/ Mitch and Blake.
The house by the pool has a pizza kitchen so we had awesome pizza and people brought side dishes. I made my stapel, the Spinach salad. It was a shame, the end of the meal out came the boxes...yes Girl Scout cookies from the freezer. I ate 3 thin mints..but STILL lost 3 lbs at WW weigh in last night.
Yeah for me!

Harry Potter comes out at midnight tonight..the movie. I know what happens. I may have to wait til tomorrow..unless I take a nap when I get home from work. We'll see.

www.biddysworld.blogspot.com
Miss Biddy nominated me: Now, for my nominations...see that little linky list on the left? The one called "Random Links I've stumbled upon and love"? Those are my homegirls. And they are ALL nominated...because they rock my world...

See that, I was "linked!"

I get to nominate..and I have to nominate people who actually READ my blog..I have VERY limited readership. :-)

I would like to nominate Jay for making me laugh and for her brilliant writing which makes me feel like I'm strolling though the streets of Canada with her.

I would also like to nominate my other Canadian friend Linda. She has great kids and interesting stories..although when she starts talking about her pool compition I get a little lost.

Couple Nutty Weeks

So we went to the baseball game on the 3rd. It was hot...do I look hot, I was. The game sucked...Cards played Arizona 4 games, we won all but the one we went to. J got us awesome bbq..I think it was like $30 for 2 sandwiches, 2 sodas and a water. Crazy. It was a good sandwich though.
Why does blogger keep putting the pictures in code now? I don't like it....

We went to the Webster Groves carnival a couple times. We did NOTHING on the 4th which was nice.

This weekend J and I went to his mom's friday night..just the three of us, we ordered pizza and chitted and chatted and had a really nice time. Saturday J went to church w/ me, mom and dad...we all loved that. Sunday my friend had a pool party. Yeah, I love getting in the pool. I still have to download those pictures. I can't blog pictures from home since they are too big. I have to upload to flickr..come to work and save as jpegs. There has to be a better way!'

I won a meet and greet at the American Idol concert in Sedalia. I wrote a little essay and I won! I think there were something lik 5 winners.

We're watching Big Brother: Go away Jen and Joe...if I was HOH next week those two would be up for nomination for SURE! This week...lets see Carol go.

Happy 5th of July!!

Well, it feels like one big weekend mixed with a bunch of Monday's, doesn't it?

It all started the weekend of the 27th. It was movie marathon weekend. We saw the Ratatouille and Evan Almighty. It was also a busy busy weekend. Friday night was the Rat movie which I loved, then Saturday morning I was up at the crack of dawn to work at the park for the ALS walk. I worked the registration desk. It was VERY disorganized. There has to be a better way to do it...I'll have to think on that. Then it was off to the Bruno BBQ. J wasn't feeling up to it so Drew and I went out. New location this year, it moved from the convienent place near my office out to pack a lunch St Peters. The park though was awesome. You had to walk a bit to get to the potty but the pavillion and playground area was awsome. In years past it was Holly and her family..Al's family and then a few friends. Holly's friends have abandoned her and I'm the only one left. (lol) Drew and I got out there, much to our surprise there were 25,000 people, well kinda. Holly's mom's side of the family hijacked her BBQ and turned it into a family reunion..nametags and all! Drew headed straight for the playground where he found the one person not associated w/ the bbq and became friends with him. He was going into first grade, on the playground Drew took it upon hmself to teach this little boy all about "pluses and minuses"..that stuff comes in handy. Drew thought the kid was cool cause he spoke 4 different languages.
Meanwhile I hung w/ Holly and the family. Holly's mother is what some people would call, "a character". She's a woman who is in control and she wanted to control the BBQ. What family reunion isn't complete without prizes? Who knew?
The crafty woman went to the grocery stores, Dairy Queen, Starbucks, Dollar Store..and she got STUFF, for free! There were attendance prizes, cooking book number prizes, kids prizes. You didn't want to get too close to the table w/ the prizes though cause you might get your hand slapped.
Lunch was almost ready and people were gathering around the food table when Mrs G started ringing the bell..most people thought that it was time to eat, or for a number to be pulled; but no, it was directions on the occasion that was taking place, thankfullness for those who traveled far and blah blah blah.....my tummy was growling...Holly's cousin Terri was making me laugh....Mrs G's voice sounded much more like the teacher from Peanuts... then finally I heard the words "eat"..I was there! We ate...then Holly's cousins got out the insturments!! Real live banjo, guitars, harmonicas..these were from the Florida cousins that are now in Tennesee..follow that? They were funny, they went around to everyone and sang a little ditty about each person then later came out w/ some James Tayor, Sweet Home Alabama etc...good sing alongs. Before I left Mrs G started with her prizes again..this time cousin Terri's family was winning all around her, Cousin Terri announced, "get me the Starbucks mug!"....another cousin?? brought it over and MAN!! "Don't you have your listening ears on!?!?!?"...that mug went back on the table and she was given the gift she was supposed to get for what she won...then one of the 10ish boys one and got a lovely little purse...cause that was the prize for that game, don't you people understand??? It was after 4pm and I knew we needed to make a potty stop, get gas and get home before we went to Evan Almighty...
Don't you know I left with a peach shaped teapot and a plastic pitcher!!! Drew got an awesome little baggie w/ a plane.
I forgot my camera, luckily Holly had her's. Here is Mrs G on her soapbox!

In-Law Vacation Pictures

I hate that have hardly ANY vacation. I am still at only 1 week a year. 2006 was Aruba and so will 2007. By 2008 I'll get 2 weeks.
So, until then I have to say No Thank You to wonderful trips like Ireland, England and just lately the Hawaii one.. :-(
The images came up in code and it's very confusing. I LOVE the picture of E by herself. It's awesome that Fran and Prill were able to do this together.
