Friday was the final day of Bible Camp. **
I missed ALL of the festivities because I was sick. (story to come later).
Drew was a Secret Agent for God and he got some cool glasses. I think the whole thing was an evangalizing thing (yea I know that isn't spelled correctly). He had a blast and he learned tons of new songs. B I B L E was one song...to which I commented that he sounded like is protestant cousins..to which I got an elbow in the gut..well come on! How many Catholic kids do you know that go around signing about the bible. When I was his age I was learning the verses to "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall". Then there is another song which he sang over and over again but I've blocked it from my mind...all I know is that he tried to throw in a little beat boxing. Later on that evening I was playing on the computer, J was playing XBOX and Drew was bouncing off the wall, he annouced that there was also a dancing song that we can ALL do. What does he break into? "Father Abraham"...he started w/ "Faaather Abraham..." and Jeremy and I chimed in, "had 7 sons, 7 sons had Father Abraham and he didn't laugh and he didn't cry all he did was go like this..." Of course were both started the song in different keys and Drew was freaking cause we had the words all wrong. Now it was Father Abraham has many sons, many sons has Father Abrhaman, I am one of them, you are one of them and we all can go like this....???WTF? Who changes the words to Father Abraham, it didn't make sense when I was a kid and it still doesn't. Then the conversation started on the whole "Father thing". Why is God the Father? How can he be the Father and the Son? (thank goodness he didn't bring up the Holy Spirit). Does he give himself a Fathers Day present?
Needless to say this was at his new Catholic Grade School. He found out about the change Thursday. Mommy told him and he said, "I don't want to go there"..she said "they will give you more homework, it will be harder, you'll have Religion every day and they will teach you Spanish"..to which he said, "Cool, I'll go! Do you think I can sign up for Chinese too?"
I think this next school year is going to be interesting.
**yes my mother freaked that a Catholic school had a bible camp, that conversation is something like 5 posts, I can have a whole blog on the world according to mom...

We're non practicing Catholics and I sent my kids to Bible camp at the United Church every summer when they were little. It was good for them and they loved it. It really gave them a basis for questioning their faith as they got older and that was my intent. No brainwashing for my gang!
What about "I am a C! I am a C-H! I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. And I have C-H-R-I-S-T in my H-E-A-R-T and I will L-I-V-E-E-T-E-R-N-A-L-L-Y!" Best ever.
When I was in brownies, we sang that father abraham had 7 DAUGHTERS!!! I've never heard it anywhere else, so I didn't know they were supposed to be sons, and I never knew it was religious!
Sorry, that was me.
