McGraw's Back

Seems the new guy on KTRS called Condeleeza a coon in passing. I really think it was an accident. Anyway the hired McGraw back. I am SO stoked!!

I may even start listening to Frank O'Pinion again!

'70's Girl

Not all of these are me. I've highlighted the ones that are NOT. and comments in RED

If YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL IN THE 70'S...
1. You had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked. NOT
2. You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with flowers on it. the bananas seat and basket were not on the same bike though.
3. You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels. Never even put on a roller blade.
4. You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (I did think he was so
cute!) and did not get why Doc got the gals
5. You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island or BattleStar Galactica. NO..and I did not get nightmares from TV shows..well maybe the Amity Horror BOOK
6. You had rubber boots for rainy days and Moon boots for snowy days.
YEAH! My moon boots were awesome, I hope they come back in style.
7. You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the "Dorothy Hamill" because your Mom was sick of braiding your hair. People sometimes thought you were a boy. I had the bowl cut along with frilly underware to try and nip the boy comments in the bud.
8. Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession. NO I did not even own a sleeping bag, I was not allowed to sleep over.
9. You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers. Maybe not knickers but satin shorts, terry cloth,
10. You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon. never got it
11. You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple satiny shredded outfits. did NOT, I had evey Barbi imaginable as well as Ken, Tiffany, Skipper and Gi Joe (who was VERY VERY short. )
12. You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze. The swing set tipped over at least once. I LOVED that pink and green rusting metal swingset..and I don't think it tipped ALL the way over but it came off the ground for sure.
13. You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. Oh yeah.. I wore them but didn't make them
14. You had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole & the buckle). They were LOUD too.
15. You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson! I didn't despise Nellie..and I wanted to kiss Albert and later Manny...a LOT. I still love Little House on the Prairie and really like Melissa Gilbert. I was extremely jealous when she married Bruce Boxleitner..who I had the most HUGEST crush on. I totally LOVED How the West Was Won..wasn't that the TV show?
16. You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink. NO I didn't go to the roller ring when I was a pre-teen
17. Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" or "feathers" and you kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket. No shit. You got a better feather when you didn't wash your hair in a day. Who always has pockets? We put our combs in our socks.
18. You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie. I know who they are but NEVER played with them.
19. You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic. With the thermos inside! Why in the hell would I need a lunch box? Serioulsy I did have a metal one that was red plaid..I used it for field trips.
20. You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend. NO..why would we do that?
21. Every now and then "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the movie, "Annie"
will pop into your brain and you can't stop singing it the whole day. If so it's because we did the play in high school...which was NOT in the 70's.
22. YOU had Star Wars action figures, too! No, not that I remember. I did see the movie's but only once.
23. It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags! Again with the sleeping bags..NO..maybe popcorn. And yes, it was a family event.
24. You often asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry.
Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or Rick Springfield?" I did NOT own a magic 8 ball..or know anyone who did. I knew that I was NOT going to marry a celeb...I wasn't that delusional.
25. You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack record album. I did not have the Fame Soundtrack. I have Grease on my iPod. :0)
26. You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick God's eyes, decoupage, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom. I did the potholders on the plastic loom..why would I poke God's eye out w/ a popsicle stick?
Pot holders - I believe they were called loom loopers.
27. You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts!. I was not allowed to iron on anything to my clothes!
28. You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker. How the hell else were you suppsed to record music? My Raggedy Ann and Andy radio was the BEST!
29. You couldn't wait to get the free animal poster that came when you ordered books from the Weekly Reader book club. Double score if it was a teddy bear dressed in clothing. DUH...I wonder if those posters are still at my mom's? I don't think it was called Weekly Reader though. Man I used to buy alot alot alot of books.
30. You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.) Periods, first base, 2nd base...yep. What was I supposed to do, talk to my mom?
31. You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics. It isn't?
32. You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or & nbsp; shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs. Yeah!! That was fun too!!
33. You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer. I did NOT. Suzie Kaiser..was that her last name..she was. She went to my grade school. She had BIG hair.
34. You had a Big Wheel with a brake on the side, and a Sit-n-Spin. NOPE again!
35. You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat. I don't think you had subscriptions..but I had all the magazines. I guess I got them at the grocery store. I think there are still boxes of them at my mom's house. They wouldn't be worth anything though since the Parker Stevenson pictures are all cut out...and James McNicole...and Bruce Boxleitner.
36. You spent all your allowance on smurfs and stickers for your sticker album! NOPE..I did have a cool roll of Smurf tape that Michelle Griffin and I used to put on stuff. Again..that was the '80's.

** They forgot about drowning yourself in Love's Baby Soft - which was the first real perfume you owned! Love's Baby Soft and MUSK...I loved loved loved any Musk. In the 80's we all moved on to Ralf Lauren. : 0)

OMG OMG OMG - Pickler Prom

Go to that blog..just in case it didn't link right it's judgejru.blogspot.com
LOOK at Kellie Pickler's Prom Dress.
Tonight is song's of the 21st century. So what...2000 and later?? The only person it may hurt is Taylor and Elliott. We shall see.

Reading List

OK..we all know I finished Frank McCort's Teacher Man. Next up was Little Earthquakes, by the gal that did Good In Bed and In her Shoes...Jennifer something. Last night I finished Sarah. I gave it to Linda it's not in the kitchen to read the author. Awesome book. The story of Sarai and Abram from the time she left Ur to her death in Caana. Too cool. Now I'm going to read a Patricia Cornwell, I started last night before I went to bed.

Last Day

Today is the last day here.
Last night J, his dad, Drew and I walked along the path to Market Street. We had Grimaldi's pizza then Cold Stone Cremery. Over a mile walk. The trip yesterday to the DBack stadium was over a mile. All this walking...geeze..
This morning it's raining. Yes, I'm in Scottsdale and it's raining. Jon had to go to a meeting and Linda was up too, just now had time to come to the computer. Looks like I haven't missed much in the world.
Linda and I are going shopping this morining. I have a feeling it's more of a boutique than a store. Doubt they have my size too. Oh well.
The rain better stop because we're going to a spring training game. THEN maybe swim..then I have to go shopping since I volunteered to cook again. Pasta tonighht. Christine is comine over too so we can all watch American Idol together.
Our flight leaves tomorrow around noonish.
I am ready to go home...then I can relax :-)

Red Rocks Rule

Going backward. I made dinner last night. Jon made the steaks but I made salad and garlic mashed potatos and a brushetta. OMG I have been up since 3am...I love garlic but it doesn't love me.

They have beautiful trails in DC Rach. J and I went for another walk Friday morning. Then we packed up and went to the Railroad park. Drew thought that was very cool. (me too) then we went to lunch at Papadeaux's. Yummy yummy. I had an awesome seafood sampler. Drew ate all his corndogs and fries and Jeremy had an awesome seafood and veggies on a skewer.

Off we went to Prescott. We relaxed when we got to their place. Linda and I did puzzles the boys watched bball. I don't care anymore I'm out. Jeremy and I went for a walk along the golf course and then we all ate pizza. Some of those homes around the golf course go for 4 million plus. Just awesome. Ther was lots of snow in the mountains. Odd being 70 and still having snow.
Saturday morning we went for breakfast then packed up for our trip to Sedona. We drove through the moutains, I think the highest elevation was 7000 feet. The Mersedes was faily comfortable even though we had wiggle worm in the middle.
We stopped to get a veiw of the valley w Sedona in the distance. Thank the lord cause I was about to upchuck.

We stopped in Jerome, AZ. AWESOME town. I would love to visit again. It's a copper mining town and totally awesome. I bought some jewelry and say a poet artist. Her painting was words over and over to create the image. I had never seen anything like that. The homes were all in the mountain and the roads reminded me of Lombard St.

We next stopped in Sedona. The Red Rocks were amazing. We stopped in a few shops and totally enjoyed the views. In the future we hope to take a trail ride.

Got home...I made dinner...you are caught up. Tonight we go to Christine's.

Relax!

The flight was uneventful, I read, we played games the woman in front of us complained that Drew kicked her seat. We landed and couldn't find Jeremy's dad at first. I thought we were hoteling it for a second. Then the next thing you know...we're at their house, I'm in my suit and in the hot tub. Oh Yeah.

Then we watched some hoops...I am totally out. Duke lost...grrr.

We at pasta, then Jeremy and I went for a nice walk while Drew played w/ Grandpa. Thier gated community has sidewalk / trails that go through the golf course and all sorts of things. I've never seen so many bunnies in my life! I got some beatiful pictures. The mountains and sunsets are awesome.

Today we're going to some train place then we're headed up north to Prescott. We're either going to the Grand Canyon or Sedona.

:0)

MP Super-Bitch

Grrrrrr
Everything is getting on my nerves. Is it the lack of killer smoke? Yes, no? Maybe?

I'm snippy and snappy.

I told dad to wait to commit suicide until I get back from Arizona. He was good with that. Psycho man wants to drive 7+ miles on busy busy road. He's driving the rest of the family nuts too. Hope they can deal with it while I'm gone.

Well I need to do things...like clean and email a bunch of crap.

Have a happy hump day!

The Black Thorn

Why is it that now the Black Thorn is totally cool and hip. Back in the day we used to go there. I remember the Nolans bachlorette/bachlor party was there. We played shuffle board and drank. I do recall pitchers of beer as well as food, not recalling what food. Normally because I would drink my dinner.
Anyway, at stltoday.com there is an entire artical about the huge 5lb 12" pizza's that are so worth the hour wait. Excuse me, what pizza is worth an hour wait? I have never had such a pizza. Have You?? Now I know there is a new pizza joint on the Hill that has a HUGE wait. Just don't get it. I'd wait that long for an awesome steak. Oh well. Now my stomach is turning from the thought of too much alcohol.

Taylor Hicks to shine again!

OK, I'm all hyped up for American Idol tonight. And YES, don't I know I have 12million other things I should be doing right now.

It's 50's night on American Idol. I'm thinking that Taylor is going to kick ass, as well as Mandisa, Katherine and Elliott. I think that poor song choice may hurt Lisa or Paris...but only time will tell!

Tonight is a two hour show, followed by Amazing Race. In this time period I am also supposed to wash ALL clothes that we are taking with us to Arizona. Good luck me. We're going to have pork steaks for dinner too. Busy night.

Wierd..Pam's bf in Joplin is 22 and couldn't breath, she had tumors in her throat...ewe...and can you say tumor w/out doing the Arnold accent?

OK..I have to help Pam find a florist in Joplin.

Where I'll be Saturday

I have some cute new suits. This is the club at DC Ranch. J's dad doesn't keep their pool heated..I'm all about the warm water. Hmmm Lounge chair...bottle of water and a book. Somehow I still invension doing the turtle..I taught Drew the turtle last year. I have a feeling there will be just as much splashing and playing as reading.

Brian and Alex

Thank God Alex looks like his mom :0)

French Toast is ready but no snow!

Go figure. This time though I was the voice saying...we're not going to get anything. Sure enough after running out to get my mom and dad milk, eggs and white bread we had a little sleet and a little snow. What that made was a little white stuff on the car and grass. Seems like up north they got 5+ inches!

FYI..image thing still not working.

Yesterday was Home Depot, Target, Schnucks shopping. Tonight is laundry night. Tomorrow his hair night.

Jeremy is doing awesome w/ the no smoking. He said people that can't quit smoking are whimps. He thought is was going to be like stopping drinking. I can tell already he's going to be one of those horrible ex smokers.

keeping my mind off things...

Jeremy thinks I'm nuts although he said driving and not smoking is wierd.
SO..I decided to double check AZ weather and images of things I'm going to see.

I know we're planning on the zoo. They have a new baby!!

I got 2 new suits at Target yesterday and 2 new books. You'll find me at the club I'm sure.

Images are working right now...I'll try posting later.

Stooopid

...or as mom would say, "not smart enough to use the sence that God gave you". Brilliant, let's go to the tannning bed to get a little base tan for Arizona. Wouldn't want to burn the first day there. I go first then come back and tell Jeremy where things are etc.
I went 30 minutes, w/out goggles, w/out lotion. Last night I was under the covers...3 sets, body slathered in noxema. Well I guess it's better I was like that at home instead of at the in-laws. My face is so red...so are the backs of my legs. Jeremy was smart, goggles and 20 minutes.

SO... been blogging in my head all weekend. I finished reading Teacher Man by Frank McCort, he says that we write in our head all day wrong. Lightbulb went off...we sure do! Man that was a great book. I'm not sure which one I liked the best though..there were Angela's Ashes, Tis and Teacher Man. I love that it took him til mid 60's to start writing. I'm amazed at the memory he has.

Day 1. Actually 8 hours being smoke free, guess that's not much to be excited about. I have the dumb gum at work. I haven't needed anything yet. The drinking thing is going to screw me up. The directions say do not drink 15 minutes before putting the gum in your mouth. I constantly drink water. Oh well I'll figure it out.

It's supposed to rain, sleet and snow tonight. Guess we didn't leave soon enough.

My *(^%#(*# HEAD

OMG! Marsha came in my office and asked me if I'd like a new monitor. SURE! It's a cute little LCD flat panel monitor. SHARP! So I get down under my desk to unscrew the cable. I sat up..STRAIGHT up and hit my flipping head. I have a HUGE bump now and have a little of the seeing stars action. Luckily we have a cold compress in the freezer. It looks like a little hat on my head.

This monitor is really kick ass. I'm likin it.

Dan brought salami in today. Yummy. I'm going to really pick a new penance. I'll have ot think about this.

I think I'm going to get an asprin.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Well I found the green turtleneck. Of course Jeremy makes the, you're not Irish comments this morning. I don't have any in me..we can discuss further later today. lol.

Anyway, I'm tied for 2nd place in my office brackets. Damn San Diego St screwed me up.

St. Pat's on a Friday. I think I'll need to stay off the streets tonight. Ameture night for drunk drivers.

I made mannecotti last night for the first time ever. It tasted awesome. I did ricotta, provel, mozzerla, ground beef and salsizza. Pretty tastey. I had issue though w/ the stuffing of the mannecotti. What I needed was one of those pastry tube thingy's to squirt it in there. Instead by the end I just ripped the damn things open, put the filling in then rolled them up and put them in the pan. I was SO stuffed when I was done since I whipped up some homemade garlic cheese bread on this awesome bread. I have it for lunch today too. Bishop's said we can eat meat today so I figure that didn't mean just for corned beef..I can eat dago food too.

Maybe we'll go to a movie this weekend, there are a few I want to see. I have to get my Arizona shopping done. I could use a pedicure too. I'll work on that.

What day is it?

I'm so confused lately. It's Thursday (I had to look at the calendar). Got Dad to the store last night. If I take him more often the list is smaller and that's a good thing since he gets tired of walking.

Melissa got knocked off AI last night. I wasn't too surprised. I really wish it would have been Kevin though. I was surprised at the bottom three. I thought it would have been Kevin, Melissa and Bucky. Instead it was Lisa, Melissa and Ace. Ace can go as far as I'm concerned, it's just that there are worse singers than him. Oh well, it's not a real contest, it's entertainment.

I couldn't get an appointment to get my color, cut and brows done until Wednesday night. Not a great deal since that is packing night. Oh well.

Weather report is interesting. SNOW. Yes, can you flippin believe it? Unreal. Maybe not until next week...hopefully it doesn't interupt our flight Thursday. Damn, I've already been going around sans socks.

Did an eddiebaur.com purchase. Feeling good about that, even though my sister-in-law Emily calls them "farmer clothes" not quite sure what that means. Just ordered some jeans and a couple other things.

We have a meeting today at work, it's one of those that takes a while. I just need to fill out w/ food so I'm not hugary during it.

Tomorrow is St Patty's Day. You know I don't even own cool green stuff anymore. Bummer.

Support Group Needed

My husband and I went shopping for shoes. We're going on vacation and needed tennis shoes, that was #1 priority.

As we stroll through Supermarket of Shoes he finds these sandals. They are a great deal, originally $49.99 but they were on sale for $15.00. He really needed some since he's past pair broke. I thought great! Sandals will make him get those toenails into shape.

NO..he is wearing them every day now..WITH WHITE SOCKS!! Yes, you heard me right. I don't have the heart to say anything though, he's like a little kid excited to have new shoes.

He's not even 40 yet, is there any turning back?

Katherine - Catherine

American Idol-Amazing Race

Well what a night.
Strated off I got a little teary eyed in the beginning. Nice.
Stage looks good.
I like Seacrest in a tie.

Ace: Not bad for Ace. Why did he have tennis shoes on.
Kellie: Sucked. Shoes, dress, twang, singing. Eyelashes..a little funny.
Elliot: I really expected a LOT more from him. Nice outfit.
Melissa: Looked good, sounded good. I didn't realize she screwed up her lyrics.
Bucky: There was not need for the curling iron. Too gay. Bucky should learn; straight teeth and straight hair are both good things for a guy.
Kevin: GO HOME. Try out for the school play. Get a girlfriend. I actually had to shield my eyes from the TV.
Mandisa: Girlfriend needs some sleeves. The poncho look was really good. Her vocals weren't as strong as I expected. Like Elliot I was dissapointed.
Lisa: Nice job little one. She could model too if she wanted too. Cute looking brothers near the parents..or whatever they are. I don't see her as a winner but I think she'll really need to screw up to get knocked out.
Paris: She does look like a doll. Cute performance. Strong pipes. Glad she didn't cry again. I still liked her first performance the best though. Midnight Train to Georgia
Katherine: Table cloth dress, very Mama Cass. I finally figured it out, Katherine Zeta Jones. I hope she makes final 4. She deserves it.
Taylor: Nice hair cut and great suit. He looked quite handsome. I thought the band was a little overpowering in the beginning. He totally takes over the stage. Love him.
Chris: Why is he on American Idol? Someone give this guy a record deal already.
*****************
I hate when the ....To Be Continued... on Amazing Race.
I am still a fan of the hippies and the nerds. I really don't know why you would tell your partner, "I'll do it" while at the pool when you can't swim. That was really dumb.
The old people were bugging me, did they even open all the way down to the bottom of the little dolls? Couldn't you just open them and leave them laying on the ground or did you HAVE to put them back together, seemed like a waste of time.
That Lake guy is SUCH a hick and such and embarressment for white people...Americans...males..Southern folks. You name it.
Dani and Danielle...WHY?

Someone gets axed tonight on AI. Hoping it's Kevin...
Tomorrow night is the first night I'll get to watch Survivor in a while now that AI isn't on Thursdays. Drew will be over again tonight, it would be perfect if Kevin was off and had to sign Part Time Lover, I can't wait to see Drew's face.

Gotta take Dad to the store tonight. I guess I'll have to go again before Arizona. Hopefully one of the family will take him while I'm gone.

No More Whammy's!

Thank you for reading MP's Death watch..yes I'm like this in real life. The weather and obits. I'm obsessed, I know.

The game show host for Press Your Luck was killed yesterday. He was flying the plane as a volunteer..getting patients from the LA region down to San Diego. His plane had problems and he and his wife and I believe the patient were killed.

..please stand by for the following update

Something like 10 people died from the storms. Wow.

Maureen Stapleton died. Here we go again, that was #1.

To my political stem cell rant last week, the Japenese now say you can get stemcells from mentural blood. I don't know about you, reading and typing that makes me want to vomit. Good news though. How do you collect it though. (gag again)

Stormy Weather

Spring came a little early...even though we didn't have winter really. I believe it was 120 tornados in the area w/ 5 deaths. Friday night was wild, about 4am I awoke to a bang that rattled the windows, if I wasn't so tired I would have gotten up to see the damage on Hampton Ave, it really sounded like an explosion..just thunder though. We didn't get hit bad in the city at all. It was either North or South of us.

Weekend was fun. Game Cube, Park, Football, Polenta, Shaggy Dog.

Tonight it's back to planning for Arizona. We need new shoes. Jeremy's shoes are almost to the point where he needs to keep them outdoors.

Well only high of 50 today...at least the budding trees and tulips got a soaking.

Tournament brackets will be given out today. I have to go w/ Duke winning it all.

Political Blogging, blah blah

I just thought the joke was funny. I know it's stereotypical. I work around well mannered, well rounded sucessful, intelligent people..some of them are Democrats too...NO really I'm kidding. I used to have a 100% direction w/ politics. Now it's based alot on issues, I do tend to sway the same way though. The latest in MO is stem cell research. It's more huge than other states I believe since we have Washington University. I don't have a strong certain opinion either way. I have issues w/ the issue.
Will stem cell research help people? I think the answer is Yes. I'd like to see those people helped. These would be ALS patients, MS, Parkinson's, Spinal Cord injuries etc.
At what cost are you going to help them?
Do we learn from the dead? Yes. We cut them open, study them and learn.
Do we create life to kill it and study it? I don't think so. So what's the answer? I don't know? I wish I did. Right now I think that all aborted fetus should be used...then they wouldn't have to create one in a dish.

I know, I know not a fun way to start the weekend. I'm crabby, I have cramps and I don't feel like working anymore today.

Robot Bartender

A man enters a bar and orders a drink. The bar has a robot bartender. The robot serves him a perfectly prepared cocktail, and then asks him,"What's your IQ ?"? The man replies "150." The robot proceeds to make
conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality,
biomimicry, environmental interconnectedness, string theory, nano-technology,
and sexual proclivities.
The customer is very impressed and thinks, "This is really cool." He decides
to test the robot.? He walks out of the bar, turns around, and comes back in for
another drink.? Again, the robot serves him the perfectly prepared drink and as! ks him,
"What's your IQ ?"? The man responds, "about 100." Immediately the robot starts talking,
but this time, about football, NASCAR, baseball, supermodels, favorite fast foods, guns, andwomen's breasts.? Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the
robot one more test.
He heads out and returns, the robot serves him and asks,"What's your IQ ?"? The man
replies, "Er, 50, I think." The robot says very slowly. "So. ya . gon na .. vote Dem.o.crat again?"

Final 12

Without A Trace AND I was WRONG

First off, I was wrong. It doesn't happen very often but I will publically admit that I was wrong. Actually I wanted Ayla to get knocked off but I really thought it would be Melissa. SO..we live with it. BUT the guys, OMG, I can't believe Kevin aka Chicken Little, made it though. NOT right. Bucky should have gone before Gedian too. Oh well, my top people are still in there.

This was the first LIVE American Idol we got to watch with Drew, too fun. He was very into who is going etc and he was VERY excited to see Bo Bice perform. Has Bo always had that tattoo on his chest?

Without A Trace was AWESOME! From the scissor cutting nap time to the lesbians and the mob..ending with a duet of That's Amore. TOO funny. Great show.

Drew annouced that he is going to have a SISTER!! Very exciting. He told me that he's having a sister because of thoughts he had in his head that only God can hear. I think that Drew has found his "inner voice" or conscience. He said that he can't control it, sometimes he says bad words in his head. He told me he thought the word damn. Oh Boy!!

American Idol Prediction

GONE tonight will be: Kinnik, Melissa, Will and Kevin.

My top people: Chris, Elliott, Tayor, Katherine, Mandisa, Lisa

Hide your daughters

The government has posted stats regarding what girls do..or don't do on spring break. This of course is on the heels of the Natalee Holloway saga.

They were talking about this on the radio this morning. Asking if people allow their kids to go on spring break and what you saw if you went on a trip.

No it seems more kids are going to Mexico or the Bahamas..no drinking age. I'm sure the same stuff goes on..maybe just worse.

I technically went on 2 Spring Breaks...Daytona senior year of high school and South Padre Island my first year of college. Padre was really no big deal. Sun, Mexico and lots of Carnoa. Senior trip was a totally different story. I remember bits and pieces..not because of black outs, just due to me getting old and forgetting.

Fond Memories:
The bus ride. We met at school. They made fun of me cause they said I looked like I was on my way to summer camp. Dina and I sat near the front of the bus.
We stopped in TN for beer and styrofoam coolers. Bus driver bought. You were allowed to smoke ciggarets or pot in the back of the bus only.
Girls (not me) flashed tops and bottoms to truckers.
We drove through the night while our pill pooping Vietnam Vet driver drove. I was delegated to sit on the steps and drink beer and talk to him to keep him awake.

Daytona, 1985. The Reef. (aka The Reefer Inn)
Bottom floor room which opened to the pool. Condoms floating in the pool in the early AM. 7-11 was across the road, I was elected with my fake ID to buy beer. We put it in carts and ran it accross the road. I became friends w/ the 7-11 owners son.
Building beer can towers in our hotel window. Cold ocean. Long walks on the beach.
Older St Mary's guys kicked out of their hotel now bunking w/ us.
Sand EVERYWHERE.

Thinking I was fat, now looking at pictures of me in a swimsuit and realizing I wasn't fat. Dina was just tiny.

All in a day

You wake up and all sorts of things have happened. Kirby Puckett died, Dana Reeves died..OH..I think that makes 3!!
Yanni was arrested for domestic violence.
Sushi is now bad for you.
Madonna's daughter wonders if her mother is gay for kissing Britney Spears on TV!

WOW. Nothing exciting happened to me except that I was thrilled to take a shower this morning. And I tried the Emeril pasta sauce last night. Pretty darn good.

Just say no to booze

Yes, that is Eddie Van Halen. Valerie said he drank WAY too much. YEP..that's what it does!

Movies, Computers and food!

Yes, that was my weekend! Rainy weekend and we spent the majority of it indoors.

Friday night we had fish fry. Dad and Jeremy went to St Joan of Arc. Not as good as St Al's. We watched Deal or No Deal then Walk the Line. LOVED IT!!! It truley was Ray w/ white people. I believed they were John and June..that's the sign of a good movie.

Saturday I checked out getting a wheelchair for mom. Those suckers cost $700!! We decided on getting one from Hill 2000. They are supposed to bring it to mom and dad's house. Took the old people to church...always entertaining .They have this kid playing the organ. Honestly, I could do better. He cannot sing and play at the same time, extremely embarrassing.

Saturday night we hung out at home. We were going to go to the movies but we didn't feel like it.

Sunday I made corned beef..watched golf. Then became SO frustrated w/ the computer. We had too much on and I was making a bagel...half the electricity in the house went out. Trying to flip the breaker Jeremy took out the computer..while it was on. We are no unable to sign back into Netzero. Something about a bad image on the C drive. I was ready to cry. Usually I can troubleshoot and figure these things out. I had to take a break so I wouldn't throw it out the window.

SO then it was Oscar time. Yeah!! John Stewart did better than Chris Rock..not as good as Billy Crystal.
No big surprises until the end. I jumped off the couch when they announced Crash. That has to be the first time in a long time an "old" movie has won. I think that came out almost a year ago. Jeremy and I loved that movie.
Exceptance speeches were pretty boring. The best was when the rap guys won for Hard for a Pimp..another movie I loved. I did want to see Dolly win there. John Stewart was great though, Martin Scorsese zero..rap group 1....

OK...Monday morning, I overslept. I know I pushed the button to turn the alarm last night but it never went on. So...I'm at work without a shower. I wasn't late..still here around 7:30. Hair is already feeling knarly. AND we have this plant in our confernce room..which is one room away from me that smells like ass. AGGGHHHH. It's blooming. It's not feezing any longer, I wonder if I could just stick it out in the parking lot.

American Idol Voters Get Gold Medal

I can't believe it. Every year I end up getting pissed by who America votes off. Now they are SO right. I usually make one or two calls. Jeremy goes nuts and makes a million. Last night I was extremely happy to see Sway and Brenna go...Heather needed to leave as well as David. I think Paula was drunk last night. She was wierd.

Well it's Friday. I'm ready for the weekend. Drew's not over this weekend either. I think we're going to watch Walk the Line tonight. Sat I think I'm going to get mom a wheelchair then take them to church . Sunday will be the big Oscar night. I need to figure out what to make for dinner.

I think the cats have spring fever. Rocky attacked me last night for no reason at all. I have 2 little pucture wounds. Ouch!

Jack Wild Dead

If you are old like me you remember him as Jimmy on HR Puff and Stuff and as the Artful Dodger in the movie Oliver. Old Jimmy had a rough life like we see some children stars have. Drugs, booze and smoking got the best of him. He really did look horrible later in life. After he was clean and sober he tried acting again..eventualy he lost his voice. He died at 53. That has got to suck for his family.

Do we start the 1-2-3 count over again? #2 that I know if really doesn't count. The girl that played ex gang member, Gracialla on Judging Amy was killed by a gang member. I don't think that counts though.

In good news Brian from the office is a DAD. Alexander Davis Rivolta was born at 8:39am this morning. Everyone is doing well.
