exploding head time
What a week. Charlie started to die on Monday, he held on until Tuesday night, the funeral was yesterday. Crazy week, a bit exhausting, sad, fun..you name it we did it. Jeremy's youngest sister leaves to go back to London today, I think it will be strange for Prill having that big house all to herself. Thank God for Franklin, her little 4 legged companion.
The comic relief yesterday was priceless. Background. I am in a family of white Christian people.
Thursday my mom tells me, "Please order flowers and a card from us". I went on line to FTD.com and ordered a really nice basket w/ red roses. I paid an extra $2 for a realy sympathy card instead of the little flower card. When we got to the funeral parlor on Saturday it wasn't there. I couldn't figure that out since I was the one who got the confirmation that everything went smooth and was going to be delivered. 4pm they show up. The wonderful funeral parlor people set the basket on a table, the card opened so you can read the message inside. It was very nice.
Forward to Monday. The funeral was over and we go to Jeremy's mom's house afterward to chill for a while. We walk in the door, my sis-in-law, bro-in-law, and the three little boys are upstairs. J makes a b-line for the couch and I'm setting down my purse, hanging up my coat etc. I see the basket of flowers on the table behind the couch. In the little plastic card holder is the full size card from mom and dad. This time the card is closed. I look over and see people praying by the side of a bed. It is a very lovely dark skinned family. Well I totally cracked up. We left the card there until last night when everyone was over. Now Charlie did have a mammy when he was a little boy down south..but this was above and beyond that, the jokes just started rolling...the tan family, how much Charlie liked the pool...the little kid w/ the big feet, was that Wendy?
OMG..I have never seen J's brother Woody laugh so hard in my life.
I KNOW Charlie would have gotten a huge kick out of it too. They are going to keep the card.

RIP Charlie
I'm sure he's resting in peace...after the last few weeks he has to be in peace. Now if Jeremy's mom could only have peace...

Happy Presidents Day 2007!

Gotta love Presidents Day. Not much traffic on the way to work. No school, banks, post office, govt jobs or stock exchange. Lets the rest of us work in peace :0)
What do I know about presidents. A little. George Washington had wooden teeth. Abe was shot at the theater. Jefferson had an awesome home in VA that I visited, he liked the slave women too...they were a bit young as well. Many of the presidents died young of "natural causes". There were assaisin attempts...hit's and misses...
These were all white, Christian men. Many cheated on their wives, had problems with drugs and alchol and had varying levels of intelligence.
One thing is true. The man gets elected to clean up the mess of the guy in front of him. The one elected never gets all the credit deserved for the good..since we don't see the results until the next guy is already in office. Don't you think?
Johnson was president when I was born. Texan. His wife had big hair. His wife was named Lady Bird, I don't think that is proper for the first lady. We didn't elect Johnson.
President that I liked the most was Reagan. I liked his politics, policy and attitude. President I liked the least was Clinton. Didn't care for his politics, policy or attitude. Person I wish would have been President that wasn't; Colin Powell.
People make a big issue about this year possibly having a woman or a black person President. I think both will happen eventually but it's not really a big deal. I think it would be a big deal to have a non-Christian elected president. THAT would be wild. I'm surprised a Jewish person has never been elected. I think Hell will freeze over before a Muslim is elected..voters are having issues w/ black people. WOW. Muslim, Gay...that would be wild. I don't think this will be the year of the woman. Thank GOD Hillary will not win. That is my early prediction. I don't think we're ready for a new termonology of what her husband would be called, First Man? First Husband? Nope, not gonna happen. I do think we'll have a President w/ a vowel at the end of his name. Rudy? Obama? Maybe.. I would be OK with either of those men. Neither won scares the crap out of me which is good. Rudy has a great chance, he's real. A divorced guy, very liberal conservative. Outspoken. Obama..he's real too...smokes cigs, mixed race, from Illinois.
I'm not ready for the commercials though..then we get to slamming the parties...name calling. I'm sure it will happen.
My personal relationships w/ the Presidents.. Visited Washington DC and saw the Lincoln Memorial (man that is HUGE) and Washington Monunment (closed for repair), Jefferson's home. I visited the "grassy knoll" and Kennedy museum in Dallas. MAN that was extremly intense and much more draining that I thought. I went by myself (as you should any museum) and really took time to absorb what that assasination did to our country. As I mentioned, Johnson was president when I was born. George H Bush was the first president that I voted for. I saw George at Union Station in St Louis. I saw Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton at 94th Aero Squadren (resturant and bar) near the airport during a capaign ralley. I was invited by Naral (long story). I saw George W Bush at Westport Plaza.
Happy Presidents Day!!

Boys are Good
Gentleman...WOW, what great guys I work with.
Boy #1 went out yesterday afternoon and scraped all the ice and snow off my car.
Boy #2 went out and warmed up my car and pulled it in frong of the door.
The drive home kind of sucked but most people in the city left work around noon or 1pm making that drive time hell. By 3:30 when we left ouf office the streets were pretty much empty. Roads were bad but at least there weren't a million idiots out there.
This morning was worse, what were they doing all night last night? I can tell you what they weren't doing...salting and plowing the roads. It took me over a hour to get to work this morning, cars spun out all over the roads....and these are MAIN roads.
Hopefully it will be better by the time I go home.
ps..happy vday...

No Posts...
I think there are three or four people I can some how leave a post on their blog. You know what?
I'll tell you.
I can't leave a flipping post on my own flipping blog.
My dear friend Linda.. "grass is always greener"...posted to read her blog..this got me to SHUT UP really quick and quit my whining. "The company" stole her flipping office and gave her a corner w/out a phone. OMG!! RED.???..I would be shooting daggers out of my eyes.
Brilliant...some little boy was out shoveling the snow in our parking lot.
Yeah
Little boy has shoveled a path down the side of the building...not near the cars.
Here is the visual for you. At 5pm, when it's dark, your 4 eyed clumsy friend will be attempting to make it toward my car. In my long wool coat, gloves, knit hat, larger purse, lunch pail and scrapper (remember I brought it in earlier today....EVERYONE borrowed it at lunch), I will be walking out the front door. Ice storm day this is when my feet went from under me and I landed on my arse. Today I will attempt to walk down the path the little boy shoveled down to my car. Then I have to step over a mound that is looking like it's at least a foot high. I only know one way to step..that is by leaving one foot ON the ground and by lifting the other in the air. (while holding my long coat, purse, scraper, keys, lunch box)....If I can manage this I am now next to my car...click click..does it open? Is it frozen shut? If it's frozen shut I'm screwed cause I think have to set my bag etc in the snow, if the car opens I'm able to place everthing IN the car, start it and begin my trip around the car w/ the scraper making it safe for me to drive. Yes I'm anal..I scrape the headlights. Remember too I'm doing this in the dark w/ my goofy ass glasses, which are NOT bifocal...single vision...I'm not real keen on pointing my head in the down direction.
Well hopefully I can update tomorrow how I survivied this trip...most roads are closed right now, I'm hoping they will reopen and be plowed within the next couple hours.
Room Without A View
There are days like today that I really hate my office. I was wrong, I'll admit it. The weatherman was kinda right. It started to snow after I got to the office and we got 1/2" in around 30 minutes and it's supposed to continue all afternoon. It's the fluffy white stuff. It's really pretty and I can't watch it.
I don't have a bad office, I really shouldn't complain. I have a brand new cherry desk, in an L shape. I pretty comfortable high backed chair. I have 2 fake trees, a black and white flower picture..a framed picture of my family on my desk..a cork board w/ important information, pictures and funny papers and a snapshot of 2 of my best girlfriends at my bachlorette party..Oh and a magnet picture from my wedding day..man was I fat, but I digress. I have everything I need. I also am bringing in a book shelf and a color art picture that used to hang where my ferjo is hanging..but that will come after the weather.
When I look up though I have my computer screen, slightly to the right is a wall w/ a big ole calendar..then further to the right is my door..which looks out to a small hallway and Brian's open door. I used to look out to a window...To go to a window I now have to go through 2 hallways to the front. I just make myself an excuse to go outside just so I could play in the snow for a few minutes. I got the big scrapper from the back of the jeep with the thoughts that if the car is frozen shut when I leave I will NOT be without a scrapper..and I got to play in the snow.
I have a meeting and conference call scheduled today, that is cool cause I'll be in the conference room twice..which is a room w/ a view!!
I'm not looking forward to the drive home. When we had the ice storm I had a rented Durango w/ close to $100,000 worth of product in the back..this was for the trip to Indiana. That puppy handled the ice great. I found a bizzare backroad home and had no issues. I have a hair cut scheduled for tonight and I'm wondering if I should just leave at 4:30 and assume I can make it home and to my appointment by 6..I guess I should call Andrea to make sure she'll still be there, I can't see why she would go home early though since she lives so close to work. I'd hate to leave my car parked on the busy street though..maybe I'll drive home and make J drop me off. Hmm that is an idea.
I have a feeling that I'll be up and down out of my chair alot today, just to get a view.

fiddlesticks
I thought..ooo, I've got my stuff together now. Look at all the people who posted on my stuff, I was thinking I was just a big ole loser..but there were posts.
But I still go to Linda's blog and can't get anywhere..then when I do post on my own blog I have to open link in a new page.
Oh well.
Fiddlesticks
Jeeze Louise (which my stepson says now and I overuse and abuse)
You follow me?
Here you go.
Those are some phrases that I use just a little too much right now.
How about you?
issues issues

WOW, tons of blogger issues. I've gone over to the new version and now I'm getting the posts that people left..and all kinds of fun stuff.
I don't know if it's the computer, the operator or blogger but it's been very frustrating.
We have a new blog at home too w/ our pictures, it seems to work so much easier from home. I think part of the problem is the online Oracle thingy we use at work. It bombs all the time.
Well now that I'm here I really don't have much to say.
Police Reunion on the grammy's kicked ass.
Seeing the Dixie Chicks win everything else...not so much.
Carrie Underwood..awesome.
Ice, Snow?? WOW, NY is getting hit hard.
Global Warming? Nope..I'm thinking it was just like Midevil times...solar issues. South Pole has grown something like 8%...
They are calling for 6" of snow here by Wednesday. SO..what will really happen. I think a little ice and a 1/2" of snow. Lets see if I'm right.
Out of the mouths of babes: Drew this weekened: We were talking about spending fake money in a video game (Viva Pinata)..Drew said that I spend money without thinking about it. Jeremy says.. "yeah, just like when BB goes to Target".... we laugh and Drew says. "BB is Target". Then he comes back with, "NO, Mommy is Target, BB is Schnucks"...That is SO you had to be there funny but I'm ALWAYS at the grocery store. I think I go a couple times a week. Now that I'm on this baked fish kick I go every day I make fish. Favorite so far was the talapia. SP??
OK, now that I got to posting hopefully it will continue to work.
Above is a little picture of the Hardy Boys in the spirit of the new movie coming out....well, in production. If ONLY they would cast Parker Stevenson...sigh...

Ferjo Investment!

This is my Valentines Day present. It is the Hall of Picasso by Ferjo, it is one of 350 that were made and I proudly am an owner now and have this hanging in my bedroom. I am very excited.
Butterfly, egg, pencil, strawberries, birds..no stairs..maybe those rocks on the window sill..they are kind of like a stair..and I think there is a fish on the vase. Hmm... Once my glasses come in I'll be able to study mine up close better and find all of the things, I'm still trying to figure out what is on the wall on the left hand side.
