Crazy Friday

I went from happy crazy Friday to stress Friday..all in a couple hours. I'm going to take Jeremy to the hospital, he needs to get pumped full of fluids...at least thats what his doctors office thinks..not the flu. I new it!!

Work is crazy plus it's Marty's last day. Oh well I'll stay another hour 1/2 then go get him.

And I thought it was going to be a borning Friday. Fooled me.

Friday, all day long! YAY!

I like Friday's. I think I like Thursday nights too. This week really flew by. I like it when that happens. I like having no plans this weekend. I used to thrive on "having a plan". I remember in college Karen and I would go out for our drives, or go to the movies and I would say, "OK, if the movie starts at 7:30 we need to be in our seats by 7:25, concession stand by 7:15, give ourselves a few minutes to find a parking place so we need to leave at 7:09". Going out even a few years ago I would know on Tuesday what my weekend held. I would have a meeting on Monday night then a different meeting Tuesday and so on. Now it's just slowed down and I realize that is nice. There may be a time when I want to fill up my days but not right now.

I do have plenty of weekend things to do. Next week we're going to the in-laws on Friday night then my father-in-laws bday party Saturday night..the following weekend Drew will be over again and I'm sure weather permitting we're going to Hurricane Harbor, we promised him. Sometime in August we're having my cousin's little boy's 1st bday party. Then the weekend after that we have Marty's retirement party on Saturday night...inbetween there we have American Idol and a Cards D'Backs game..in the company seats. Already into September we have a Cards Pittsburg game and a trivia night. Then BOOM we're into fall and birthdays :0)

Speaking of Six Flags. There was a horrible accident yesterday, a women; her two boys and her stepbrother and stepsister were all killed. Seems a dump truck filled w/ rocks didn't stop and drug the car off the highway. Not good. Almost a dozen other people were hospitalized. We drive out there all the time and I really think what is going on is people get near Six Flags and gawk over to the right and look at all the cool rides..then CRUNCH.. Car crashes just really freak me out, you are just going about your daily routine and the next thing you know you're gone. Jeremy was talking about this and he decided that God cannot control car crashes. He said that God can't watch over all the cars that are driving all over the world at one time. Well I didn't want to argue with him but if you believe that it's not destiny and it's Gods plan then sure as heck He can watch over all the cars at one time. Right? I do think that God doesn't control or know the outcome of everything that we do. We all have a choice and even though the dump truck driver didn't choose to crach into the minivan I don't think God made it happen but I don't think he stopped it either. I guess it was their time. It's hard to understand. Maybe the death of those little boys will help one of their classmates who has to deal with death in a few years or maybe it will make the surviving boy and his father closer (now I don't know that they weren't close in the first place). Oh I guess it's all guessing work on our part..can't make yourself crazy wondering what the Plan is. I know I don't want to know mine..although I tend to obsess though, thinking...OK if I go down this street what will happen..or if I make this decision how will that differ my life..I don't do it all the time..it's not like I need to be locked up or anything.. Oh well I guess I'll get back to answering phones.

My thoughts on Natelee Holloway

OK, I think it is terrible that the family of Natelee Holloway has to go through what they are going through. I can't image the stress and despair knowing that your child might be dead. But enough already w/ the media coverage.

Last night we had on Nancy Grace, who I can't stand but Jeremy likes and then Larry King. That was ALL they were talking about.

Natelee disappeared in Aurba, her mother has decided to stay there until something is found out. That is her mothers choice. She can physically look and plead for the government to do somthing, but I think at some point she's going to have to get on with her life. They are accepting donations at her website to help fund the families expenses. This hits a nerve with me. Around the country there are children missing, abducted, killed, unsolved cases. The only thing that is making Natelee's case so public is money and I can't believe this is coming out of my mouth..race. Don't give your money to the Holloways..that's my plea. They don't have to be in Aruba, go home. If you want to donate money there are more than likely people less fortunate in life that can't afford to search for their loved ones.
Am I cold-hearted? I don't think so.

This is my first cousin Debbie and her husband Bill from their trip to Alaska. That is for SURE on my lists of states I've yet to visist. They didn't go in 2003...that has to be wrong.

It's cool again! YAY!

Oh it is so nice outside. Cool front came through after 8pm and it feels awesome.

We went to the Muny but left at 10pm since I was getting sleepy. My father-in-law was falling asleep on one side of me and my dad on the other side. It was the most boring part of Mame. We missed most of the good songs though, Oh well.

Going to Chicago in Sept to work the booth at our trade show. I need new shoes. At least I have a few weeks to figure out what to get. I'll go on a Monday night in time for "Uncle Julio" night. Then work the show all day Tuesday then come home Tuesday night. Not bad, I get to skip all the set up and tear down stuff. They figure I need to be back at the office holding down the fort.

I think we're going to try to see Wedding Crashers this weekend. They were talking about how hysterical it was on the radio. Can you believe that the anncoucers saw kids in the theater. I think that they should inforce the ratings more. There is no way that a child under 16 needs to see a movie all about getting laid. That's crazy. I turn off Law and Order when Drew comes in the room...although commercials are just as bad. Viagra, tampons...kids really don't need to see that stuff. Puts questions in their mind way too soon.

Why won't it rain?? It's a little breezy...but still hot. I want it to rain so I'm not watching Mame in her big old outfits drenched w/ sweat. Sweat and the Muny don't go well. You sit too close together...and my dad is going. He tends to to wear deodorant. Great.

Drew Lost His First Tooth!!

Drew lost his first tooth, on his 6th birthday of all days. It was loose and he just wiggled it out at Mommy's. He's getting to be such a big boy. His legs are getting really long too. I think he's going to be taller than J.

Well I'm supposed to be going to the Muny to see Mame tonight. It's going to get in the high 90's but they are calling for a storm around 4pm to bring in a cold front, fingers are crossed!!

I'm finally getting caught up on all the work that piled up while the boss was away, thank God. I was known for my promptness, I was blowing my image.

One of the ladies here, Marty, knows everything! She is retiring on Friday. Man that is going to suck.

Keeping my fingers crossed for lightning, thunder and a major downpour!

100+ today, YAY

Oh well I guess I'll survive the heat, thank GOD I have a job in the aircondintion. This was Drew's bday weekend and Jeremy was sick. We had a fun Friday..before J got sick. I leaft work, went to the bank, walmart, picked up the boys, we went to Micky D's then over to mom and dads. We ate our Mc Donalds, I played the piano a little then Drew openend his present. It was Madagascar Sorry. Fun game but you have to get a 1 or 2 card to leave your start box. Jeremy never did get out of the box before we decided to quit. Saturday we went out to Swing Around Fun Town. Only Carol, Blake and Mitch showed. It was HOTTER THAN HELL. We spent $20 in tokens, gave the boys their bags, Drew got his digimon cards and we went home. J looked close to death. I think he had the 24 hour flu or something.
Sunday was church..the new priest..who is leaving after next week...gave the homily about not using artificial birth control. In my 38 years being Catholic it's the first time I ever heard it at church. About blew me away. Then I went to the funeral parlor, Carol's cousin Julie passed away. Too young, I think she was 63.
Cardinals lost a nail biter to a grand slam in the 10th, that sucked.
I'm super tired, tummy funny since yesterday afternoon. :0(

I got a boo boo

In the 220 degree heat Carol and I went to golf lessons. I've been golf free for 3 weeks and knew it would be wierd picking up a club, plus there was a teacher I didn't know (grant it he was a 24 year old kid but I was still nervous). To make matters even worse there was a squeeler behind me. This girl and her brother were about 12 and 13. Dad was watching them hit balls. I'm thinking divorced and he had his kids for the night...who knows. The girl is right behind me, everytime she hits the ball she says..squeels..yells..."weeeeee". "weeeeee" "look daddy" "butt head I'm better than you". I don't realize it but everytime she hits the ball my grip tightens around the club. I got a huge ass blister on the inside of my thumb, you're NOT supposed to get one there. So now I keep playing with it pushing around the juice on the inside. I realize it will hurt like a mf if I pop it but I can't stop playing w/ it. I'm afraid to put a bandaid on it since then it will get too moist and probably pop.

It's tough when all I have to blog about is my flipping blister. At least I didn't just sit and complain about the heat!

10 years ago: I was living with mom and dad. I just started working at Worldwide and became friends w/ Jim and his girlfriend Alicia. I was going to lots of Blues games and going out alot. I mean ALOT.


1 year ago: Last July I was planning my wedding and HATING my job.


Yesterday: I got up, went to work, watched a kickass storm. Went to the grocery store, went home, put groceries away, made a sandwich, did laudry, watched Cards kick some ass then watched TV in the bedroom. Passed out during Jay Leno's monolouge..couldn't even make it to headlines.

As you know, I LOVE storms. I sat there for a few minutes at our front window of our office watching the downpour. Then after the horizontal rain stopped 3 of us from the office went outside. We're just talking about storms and stuff, then Yma who was leaving says "Joe's window is gone". Ended up a "mini tornado" came through the driveway on the side of our building and blew out 2 backwindows on the cars of co-workers. Pretty awesome stuff!! Glad no one got hurt..or that it was my car :0)

I'm so psyched for the Closer tonight. I was a fan of Meridith Baxter back when she was married to David Birney and and staring in Family (one of the all time best drama's in the 80's). Monday Monday

Well it's going to be a little nutting this week, not as much blogging I'm sure. The boss is in Michigan for a family vacation so that means more work for MP. Oh well that's good, keeps me out of trouble.

I'm a little sleepy, J rented that Treasure movie w/ Nicolas Cage and I HAD to watch it. That is such a fun movie.

We ate at Ari's Saturday night. The best Greek food I've EVER had!

Card's swept the Astros..that was cool!

Sure hope I don't peel, I went to Hurricane Harbor yesterday w/ Al and Bradie and she missed some spots on my back. Owie... Hurrican Harbor was awsome. CROWDED but fun!

I am emotional drained. Over at the Yay Yay site I posted in detail about this horrible accident I saw this morning, it was RIGHT in front of me. If I didn't stop to talk to Gloria this morning about Scooby, it really could have been me, and that FREAKED me out.

With PMSing, giving Scooby away and that accident I am DONE...stick a fork in me. I can't wait to sit at the lake and fish tomorrow, in the 90 degree heat w/ chances of thunderstorms. Life isn't easy is it. Oh well I know that I have it easy compared to many people, most people I think, although I'm not keeping track.

Oooo, I just found out someone brought donuts, gotta go.

Jeremy went to the apa, found out they would kill the dog and also found out that we can't give him away because he was a rescue dog, he has to go back to Mt Vernon. SO, I've emailed and left them a message. We could go tomorrow before 7pm. I don't want to go Saturday cause we're supposed to to to Litchfield Il to the Keifer lake house. Of course Jeremy said that he was excellent in the car and super at the apa..figures. He needs people...we're not there to be his people! Survey: Mo. Is No. 1 in Slacking at Work

If you're on the job, and you're reading this story, you should probably get back to work. The average worker wastes more than two hours a day, and that's not including lunch, according to a new Web survey by America Online and Salary.com. That means companies spend as much as $759 billion on salaries annually for which they receive no apparent benefit, the research found.
The No. 1 state for wasting time was Missouri, where workers who responded to the survey reported slacking off 3 hours and 12 minutes a day.
The survey didn't specifically look at why Missouri is the worst in the nation, but if Missouri workers think the perception is unfair, "We would encourage people to visit the home page and weigh in further on that," said Richard Cellini, Salary.com's head of research.
Missouri's governor Matt Blunt responded to the survey in a statement: "Nobody can match the work ethic of Missourians. This survey, which our busiest citizens did not want to waste their time on, cannot undermine decades of experience. Missouri workers are among the most productive in the world."
The Missouri Department of Economic Development said a study it published last year on the industries driving the state economy found Missouri employees hard at work.
"It appears to me the Missouri worker is equal to, or slightly higher, in productivity than other workers across the nation in most of the industries (the Missouri study) looked at," said department spokeswoman Kristi Jamison.
The America Online and Salary.com survey found the workers' top excuses for wasting time nationwide were not enough work or inadequate for the work they do.
About 10,000 people responded to the poll.
More than 44 percent said the No. 1 way they waste time at work is personal Internet use, like reading e-mail, instant messages, playing interactive games — and responding to online polls.
The second most popular, according to 23 percent of respondents, was socializing with co-workers. Other excuses included conducting personal business, spacing out, running errands and making personal phone calls.
Employers expect that workers will waste some time on the job, about an hour per day in addition to the lunch hour.
"Our survey results show that workers on average are wasting a little more than twice what their employers expect. That's a startling figure," said Bill Coleman, senior vice president at Salary.com.
He noted that some of the wasted time could be considered helpful, however, as conversations and personal Internet use can lead to new business ideas.
The research was conducted through Dulles, Va.-based AOL's Find a Job site, which gives job seekers access to job postings; through the AOL service, and Needham, Mass.-based Salary.com's Salary Wizard, an online salary calculator.

My Wierd Dream

OK..first off I dreamt about the Oreo Whipped Cream cake I was bringing to work today. It had a huge very neatly cut slice out of it. Hmmm. Then I don't know where I was but Amy was there..that used to live accross the street. Her younger brother was in trouble w/ the law (I don't know that she has a younger brother). Ends up that I am Amy's biological older sister. I saw picture of her mom, my biological dad (who was a squirrley looking guy)... in my dreams I kept staring at these picture and was just totally zoned in on their noses and who I looked more like. Then there was the whole deal of keeping my new little brother away from the cops. I was on this high "ladder" toward the ceiling of this room. TOTALLY strange.

Well Dennis is here, soaking rain, high humidity and lower temperatures. YAY! Looks like it will be sunny and 90 for Saturday when we go to the lake. Lake Lou Yeager..not sure who Lou Yeager is/was but I'm looking forward to fishing!

Monday..all day

I really hope we get this rain from Dennis. It's looking so brown. I told J I don't want to move to Arizona cause it's not green enough, during this drought it's looking like that here!

We stopped by Hurricane Harbor, I LIKED it alot. We would have played longer but Jeremy was sitting there swetting in the heat, in his jeans. Drew and I had a blast though. I tought him how to do the turtle in the water, he liked that. :0)

Looking forward to The Closer; my new favorite Monday night show. I don't really care about the homerun derby.

Well Big Brother started last night. J likes watching that too. I already can't stand some people already. I think golf though is going to get in the way of Thursday viewing. That sucks. I want the Kaysar guy to stick around, his rug is pretty.

AM Blogs suck

I was next blogging it to see what I could see from London. I did find a girl going to school there over the summer who was letting family know she was alright. I ended up scrolling though a billion Asian blogs not in English w/ those gay little cartoon people...you know like that Little Kitty or whatever the hell it's called. I don't like it, it creeps me out.

Speaking of creeping me out; we went to mom and dad's, then watch Hide and Seek while we ate dinner. That creeped me out. I told J that I need to get back to either funny movies, dramas or blood and guts cop drama's. These suspense movies are wearing out my stomach and blood pressure.

We'll I'm so glad my sister-in-law is in Holland for a while and not in London, makes me feel a little better. Any casualty is bad but I sure hope it's low. I really doubt they will ever prosecute anyone for what happened. I think terrorism is just going to be a way of life...that sucks.

DONUTS

Donuts! Lisa brought donuts to work today. So many to choose from, I picked the normal shaped white one w/ chocolate icing, I'm not sure if those kind have a particular name. There were also cinnimon ones, I'm not sure why I didn't pick that one, I haven't had one of those in years! OK in those couple sentences I've wolfed down all but 1/4 of the donut. I think this will be a multiple donut morning. I can save the oatmeal I packed. I should feel a little guilty, Lisa brought them as a thank you for all the help yesterday, I didn't help her w/ anything; although due to the server going down multiple times and the XM radio blast going out to 20,000 people I didn't have that peachy of a day. Upset my tummy all day. So I'll eat the donuts.

Stupid idiot kid killed a Kirkwood cop last night. They were called for a firewords disturbance and the kid walks up to the sergant or whatever he was and fires the gun into the partrol car and kills him. He was a 24 year veteran of the force. Can you image being a cop 24 years and being killed by a punk ass kid more than likely on crack. The kid is still on the loose, major manhunt going on. If I heard correctly he has "rock" tattooed on his neck...that's where I got the crack idea.

OK tonight we're going to mom and dad's for Jeremy to cut the grass. He found the other battery to the lawn mower. It was in the little room at the front of the house in the basement. It flooded. We didn't know. The hose leaked and flooded the whole front of the basement. Jeremy attempted to clean it up. Gross, I let him.

Big Brother starts tomorrow, yeah! I attempted to watch that Average Joe show last night, hard to do when you hate the girl. I didn't want any of those guys, they were too good for her.

Holiday Schmoliday

We did alot of nothing, although we did get things accomplished. It was hotter than hell so we didn't do anything the middle of last week then Friday rolled around, we had planned on going to Six Flags but Drew didn't want to go. So we just waited til the sun went down and played putt putt golf then Drew got a snowcone. Saturday we had every intention of going to Six Flags again but Drew decided it wasn't a good idea. SO we hung out at home, got Drew's school supplies at Walmart then went to the park. Sunday morning we took Drew home, then I went to church. Our parish merged this weekend. I did feel a bit like a little kid when your mom is paying more attention to some other kid. I'll get over it. People mainly from Holy Innocents, St Al's and Holy Family. Fr Bommerito did a nice job, the had a free lunch later. Those people better not get used to free. We were going to go to the fireworks that night at Sublette Park but I had a headache. We watched White Noise, freaked me out, I had trouble sleeping. We skipped the Rois party and went to see War of the Worlds instead. AWESOME! Again freaked me out, I was exhausted walking out of the movie theater.

I had talked about movies, I saw: Light on the Piazza, Two for the Road..Albert Finney was a fox..White Noise, War of the World, Alex and Emma and Miss Congeniality 2. I guess I got my fair share of movies this weekend.

Tonight J is cutting mom and dad's grass, I think I'm going to make ribs tonight then I'm sure we'll watch the baseball game.

Oh well I guess I'll do a couple more things on the internet then get to work!

10 Greatest Childhood Memories

First I have to figure out what childhood is. I guess from the beginning until I could drive, drink and mess around w/ boys.

In no particular order:

1. Watching my family cook Polenta at Grandma Garascia's house.
2. Laying in the backseat of the Grad Prix driving to Duquoin w/ my head on Nana's lap while she tickles my ear w/ a kleenex. (no seatbelts or car seats for this kid)
3. Going to St Elizabeth of Hungary w/ mom when she was teaching. Getting to go to the big kids classrooms and eat in the teacher's lounge.
3. Going to Christmas parties at the convent at St Elizabeth.
4. Seeing Up With People in KC w/ Sr Angeline.
5. Going to Disneyworld when I was 5 years old the year they opened. Getting lost, being scared of the 7 dwarfs, finding mom and dad.
6. Riding Bikes. The freedom of staying out until the street lights came on.
7. Smells of childhood. Just being dirty and smelling like the outdoors, the grass, the hot asphalt, rain on the concrete, cherry bloosoms on the tree in the yard, peanut butter, fried bologna, dorito's.
8. Going to Dairy Queen on Hampton and sitting on the concrete wall drinking Mr Misty's or Peanut Butter Parfait.
9. Grade School. Nothing that particular, yesterday I shared the memory of eating braunsweiger sandwiches. I still like them w/ mustard and fritos on white bread.
10. Playing the piano and singing w/ mom and dad.

Happy Friday before a 3 day weekend.

Looking forward to the long weekend although I'm sure it's going to be another one of those exhausting weekends. We're going to try to go to Six Flags after work, it's acutally under 90 today so it should be too bad, although my lower back is killing me after golf last night. Tomorrow we don't have any real plans but I know we need to go to Walmart and get Drewby's school supplies. I hope we go to a movie, I like going to the movies, just sitting there in the dark, eating popcorn and peanut m&m's drinking Mr Pibb and being entertained for 2 hours. I could do that all day. I guess it's the same as turning the lights down in the house, closing the shades and watching TV all day. I like that too. I just have to remember to turn the phone off. Sunday we're taking Drew back to Mommy's cause they are going to the Lake, then it's back home to do nothing til we go to Sublete park for fireworks. I hope Jeremy doesn't want to go to the VP Fair...or excuse me, Fair St Louis. OR he may end up wanting to go to Webster Days. There goes my movie day...more than likey he'll want to do that Saturday then Sunday we can do nothing but fireworks. Monday we're invited to my cousin Kim's which we always enjoy but now he's saying that should be our day of rest. I guess that would be fine skipping the social scene, I could really have a day of movies and lay in bed and watch TV, I could celebrate my independence from people and anything social. Hmmm. Then back to work on Tuesday. No golf next week, week off before Beginner Golf 2, I really need to try and get out there and practice before that next lesson, or I'm going to be really sore again.

I'm eating a ham and cheese sandwich from the filling station, sorry gas station. Yech. I don't know what's gross, the bread, cheese or ham..I think it's the bread. Too many preservatives? At least the dorito's were good. I guess that's a sign I need to go to the grocery store.
