Dinner up in smoke!!!

Dinner up in smoke...in a big way. We have a $100 gift certificate, which we planned on using as part of our Anniversary celebration this year. This morning the resturant burned down. :0(
Hopefully they will extend our gift certificate since it expires 12/31. I would think they would rebuild, I think this is one of the only 5 star places in St Louis County.

Brad Stine Quote
I did that the other day listening to Bill Cosby.
Here is a quote from Brad Stine:
"Who is more irrational? A man who believes in a God he doesn't see, or a man who's offended by a God he doesn't believe in?"

Malachi
This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that He had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined?" He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it" If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

The Pines
I remember my doll cakes, I think Grandma made it for me. There was a barbie sticking out the top and a pink dress...that was the cake part. I think I was a little to old for the doll cake though.
When I was 12 the girls in my class read a book about a girl making out with a boy, the juicy part was in Chapter 9. It wasn't that juicy. At the party only one girl started her period. I started 2 weeks later during Bing Crosby Christmas Hour.
I had a girl boy party once. We were still in grade school, I guess it was the same party as the book one?
I don't recall any high school parties, I don't remember my 21st, I don't think it was a big deal. More than likely I got drunk.
When I turned 26 my friends had a surprise party for me. I had a cake with a guy fishing. I like to fish. We did kareoke. I sang Like a Virgin and they threw condoms at me.
From what I recall my 30th was pretty fun, that was at Milo's.
My favorite birthday was at The Pines. You can't find anything about The Pines on the internet, I don't know if it still there, could be a subdivision by now. It was my 20th birthday and I was in Fulton Missouri. All I remember was being at the Pines, cooking hot dogs over a fire and drinking beer. It must have been some type of "forest" or park. I don't think we were supposed to be there. I remember it was very cold and it started to snow. I recall just hanging out drinking my beer, watching it snow. It was a good day. It hardly ever snows on my birthday anymore. Actually it hardly every snows...period.
I've skipped a few birthdays. Last year we bought my Jeep on my birthday and ate at Webers. That was nice. I don't remember the year before that. This year we're going to go out to dinner to a place where jeans aren't acceptable. It would be my 40th birthday. My husband is upset that my cousin backout out of a party he was going to have. I really didn't want a party and I told him so. I recall the 26th..on bday party in a life time is good. Maybe 50...that sounds like a nice time to have a party..not 40..I don't care much for that number. It would be nice if we could go to the Pines and eat hotdogs over a fire..have a Milwauke's Best. That would be nice, although it's not to fun to go backwards. I've made my ultimate happy birthday suggestion..dinner then Yatzee.. we'll see what actually happens. Maybe I can build a fire in the firepit in the back yard. Maybe make smores. Sit in the cold. That would be nice.
